Hello Spring, Sunny Days in Agnes Water

Posted on August 30, 2013

Hello and hope you are going well, enjoying the weather and life. I think we are all a bit over the 2013 federal election so I won’t touch on politics, no Rudd or Abbott, no Chris Trevor or Craig Tomsett. Alright maybe a little, tomorrow there is a federal election meet and greet for the candidates at Endeavour Plaza from 10am to 12pm. That’s it though.

The mercury is slowly climbing with spring upon us. The weather is awesome today and looks to continue for the week, it has been a little windy though and winds will pick towards the end of the week. The temperature looks to hover around the maximums of 24 – 25 degrees. We are back in the slip, slop and slap part of the year. The sun lights are stay up later, exciting times.

The surf on the other hand is letting down its part of the bargain. This morning it was as flat as a board but as the week goes on it will pick. A few waves developing around Wednesday, keep an eye on the surf. When one door closes another one opens. Take the rod and reel, fishing conditions are perfect.

The local rugby seasons competition came to a close last weekend. The Marlins of Agnes Water put up an awesome effort and look great all season long.  The boys came 14 points short against Avondale in the grand final. This was only their second season in the competition; it should be a great 2014 series. Well done to the team and the many supporters out there.

On the sport note clubs around Queensland are being encouraged to seek funding, with the Newman Government releasing round two of Get Going and Get Playing program. There’s up to $10,000 to attract new members and $100,000 to sport and recreation organisations to develop facilities. It could be a great opportunity, to find out more click here.

There are a few other events happening this week. Tomorrow there’s the Arts and Craft Exhibition welcome to all at 97 Rocky Crossing Rd, Agnes Water from 9am till 1pm. Discovery Coast Historical Society AGM will be at the Museum on Springs Rd at 10am. Lastly, the Crafty Ladies meet is on at 9:15am till 12pm this Thursday at Jakeman Dr.

Let the Captain Cook Holiday Village know any of your thoughts on the crews Facebook page. Thanks for stopping by this week. Enjoy yourself, the sun and we will see you next week.
