The week of Agnes Water 1770, in beautiful Queensland

Posted on August 9, 2013

Hi and hope you have a fun weekend planned for yourselves but if you don’t this blog should help. Firstly, let’s hope the Australians in England can grab some momentum in the Ashes starting tonight for the second leg and second Ashes series of 2013.

In rugby the local boys of Agnes Water are going from strength to strength. Early this month the Marlins were named XXXX club of the week for Queensland. Last weekend saw another devastating victory over the Magpies. We are getting to the serious part of the season with semi final time upon us. Fingers crossed this awesome form continues as the boys head to Miriam Vale this Sunday. Back the local pride and support the town of seventeen seventy.

The weather is giving a strong showing this week staying around tops of 22 – 23 degrees, sun and more sun with a chance of tan. This is a very low chance of rain towards the end of the week. Although it is winter the UV index for the next few days is set high so I would, if you are out and about, recommend triple S’ing – Slip, slop and slap yourself.

The surf this morning was nothing to write home about but the waves should have picked up by now. If you are keen it is worth keeping an eye on. For the rest of the week on the chop it looks to continue on the same. If you are starting off on the surf great conditions, if you are a veteran it’s still a bit of fun.

For all you rag and bone people out there head to Discovery Coast Sport and Rec Grounds this Sunday. Buy and sell whatever tickles your fancy, try and find the diamond in the rough or just a bargain or two. Fees for sellers is only $1, bidding commences at 12pm sharp. For further information call Glen on 0428 352 068.

There’s a bit of good news for the local infrastructure that has just began. Flood damage areas are having refurbishment work done starting this month. The work has a $37 million budget targeting restoring areas damaged by the floods that happened earlier this year. The restoration is scheduled to continue until late 2014.
